Default Lowered with Tanabe Springs... still looks high? Tyre Size??

Hi all,
I fitted some Tanabe springs and 18" wheels at the weekend and although the fitment seems pretty good I'm not at all happy with the look.

I have only got one pic but please bear in mind that the boot is still full of the old wheels so is being weighted down. I'm running a 225/40/18 tyre all round I know this is smaller than what I should be... is this creating the problem or something else??

Dan

I think it just taking a while for them to settle.
Check here for different 18" tire options - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/5076115-post352.html

Springs take a little while to settle to their final resting height. How long ago did you have the install done. I also know that Tanabe's have different perch settings. Where is your's set to? Not sure of what the tire size should be in a second gen, mine is a 92, but if it is smaller than what is should be then yes it WILL throw off the whole perspective as well.

I beleive that the perches are on aftermarket stuts rather than the springs themselves. These springs are installed on stock, OEM struts.

I think you should probably have a minimum of 45 sidewall height with a max of 50. I have 235/35/19 for my front wheels and there isnt much gap between the fender and the tire. Oh and other than letting them settle, you might want to check the width of the rims. If they're narrow (7.5J), then they might look a bit odd.

The wheels are 18 x 8j +20 and the rears are 18 x 9.5j +20

I've got a little bit of poke on the rear (just rim as tyre is stretched) and pretty much flush on the front.

The height of the tire sidewall has little to do with the lowered look, unless you're talking about the gap between tire to fender. Even with a 45 series tire it will only minimize that tire/fender gap, but will not make your car look lower.

Bilstein HD struts might be your answer after the springs settle 1/4 to 1/2 inch more:
