Default No Kickdown + TRC Errors 19 and 45.

Hi,

On my Celsior, the TRC light comes on after about 5 minutes of driving and stays on. I also notice that my transmission does not kick down when I put my foot down, but the transmission problems came about 1 day after this TRC light.

No transmission error codes, but there are TRC Errors stored

I checked and got :

19 - TRAC motor ON and OFF operation is higher than a predetermined number of times (accumulator pressure leakage)

45 - When idle switch is ON, main throttle position sensor signal is 1.5V or higher

Could somebody explain to me what the actual problems are related with 19 and 45, and could any of this be related to the transmission not kicking down when i put the foot down?

Also is error 45 somehow related to error 19?

EDIT - took it for another drive, cleared codes before driving. TRC light came on immediately after driving and stayed on, trans did not kick down but then began kicking down later ok. Now checking codes.

By any chance is the error codes I am getting related to the transmission not kicking down. why?

Also by any chance are the two codes related to eachother, e.g one code is coming up because of the problem regarding the other. why?

Thanks.

I had an engine code on and the tranny would not kick down. I think its a way of protecting the engine. I think once you fix your TRC error the tranny will work as it should. Not sure about this but its what I think

Hi,

Did you have TRC codes or just Engine Code?

Were these engine codes related to transmission operation in anyway?

Maybe I should explain. I was traveling from Portland OR to el paso tx. Half way through the trip my engine check light went on. Whenever the engine check light went on the transmission would not kick down. When I shut off the car (to get gas or whatever) the engine check lilght would turn off for a while and the tranny would kick down. I never actually checked for what code. Once I got home I cleaned the intake and the engine check light never turned back on and the tranny works perfect.

Just to further explain. Whenever the engine check light was on the transmission would not kick down whenever the engine check light was off the tranny would kick down. This happened several times (maybe 10 times) and it was consistant. Therefore I concluded (don't know for a fact) that the computer turns off the kick down feature as a safety factor to not over rev the engine when the engine check light is on. Maybe for only certain codes I do not know.
