Default Starting problems on a 1st gen... this one seems a little puzzling

Okay, so here's the story... i traded my integra to pick up another 91 LS400 (i owned one before then converted to the dark side, haha) and i knew i had to put in work to get this one where i want it to be. So the car has been sitting at my work for about 4 months now without being started. The other day i threw in an optima battery to start the car up and to begin my project but the car would not start. It will only start if you hold the accelerator to keep an idle, if you let off to allow the car to idle on its own then it will just cut off. I drove this car before the trade so i can tell you that the car ran fine before i let it sit for a few months. At first attempt, when i held the accelerator the car blew out white smoke from the tail pipe but only briefly (leaking air valve on p/s pump that i will be replacing in addition to the pump itself, rack & pinion & hoses)... it kinda seems like the car is flooded or something or possibly low fuel pressure?!?!? I don't know, i have been searching for an answer for quite some time now and have come up empty handed... it doesn't seem that anyone had similar problems like this. I am hoping that it's power steering related but part of me fears that i should just junk the car if it's gonna be a money pit... any input or feedback of any sorts will be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!!!

the car would not start. It will only start if you hold the accelerator
So it starts . . . It merely doesn't idle.
Can you get out and drive it, get it up temp. Discover that it was just bad gas from sitting so long?

yeah, the car will not start on it's own... just extended cranking. It can't hold an idle to save it's life without help. I sat in the parking lot holding revs to allow the car to warm up (i did this for about half an hour) to see if it was just a cold start thing but whenever i let off the pedal the car will die out immediately.
