Default Dimmed lights SHut down

91 ls400 was at a stop light and the lights dimmed and car shut off. Lights were still on but the radio was off and the light in the center console around the shift know were off...Alternator?

BTW i just posted that my 97 had the check engine light come on and lost all power. The 91 is my girlfriends and that one shutdown earlier in the evening...both in the same night.....lame!

where you able to restart the car like it stalled or no, i would start testing the battery and alternator

yes it wouldn't start or turnover at all....the headlights were still on and all warning lights were on but dim....i think it alternator....

yea it was when I bought the car. it was leaking from the acv valve so I plugged it and was not leaking....but I think it could have already done its damage to the alternator now that this has happened...

could also be the high pressure hose leaking that was not detected.....

Yep, you know where i was leading. Damage was done, probably for years before you bought it.

Alternator is most likely toast, since yo had the PS leak.
