The short drives bring it down and this is common for the 95-97's. If I do an all in town stop go I get similar to what you posted. Getting the car out on the highway for hours on end the V-8 does pretty good and the 98+ more so. Lately ours does about 350 MPG/ 563 km/g to the 1/4 fuel level line. These commutes are are typically 30-50 miles.

(I'll merge this into the mother mileage thread later.) Just as a reference:

Thanks for the reply. When you say you get "350 MPG/ 563 km/g to the 1/4 fuel level line", that's highways & not stop & go short trips? So it's normal to only get 400-500-ish in short trips?

Yes. I realize that. That's why I posted this. How much do you get per tank?

Default Fuel mileage

So i have a 99 LS400 I've been averaging 24 mpg combined city/highway if i'm just city I get 21 mpg this week I was on the highway for a good run I got 31mpg I don't let the tank get below 1/4 before filling it up and the computer resets each time. I don't drive like a grandpa but I dont beat the crap out of it either. The last tank I got 23 mpg combined with several high speed runs on the highway (over 100 mph) usually i drive between 75-85 on the highway. I only use high test gas and at this point the car has just over 90k on it.

Typo, meant to the 1/4 fuel level the car will get 350 miles/ 563km range. Short trips will be less.

those are good figures, i'm hoping to maybe see some increases on the highway milage after i get the 1" lower h&r springs, in theory it should improve the number slightly. where do you do your high speed runs, on I-91? between hartford and springfield there's some pretty good places to open it up on that, i always use that road going to and from UMass and (i just knocked on my wood desk) and i almost never see a cop. even with the cruise set at 100 i found i was still getting 21-22 mpg, and that's with my wider 245 tires

I am mostly on I95 but yes I see I91 often, I've been driving the same parts of the highway for a long time I know most of the places the popo hide. I think because I don't punch it from a dead stop and mostly just drive faster is why my mileage is still good. Plus the fact i've just done a ton of maintenance to it. How often do you make the trip back and forth to Mass ?

like once a month i'd say... i generally try to always make a smooth start unless someone new is in the car and is in need of a good torque demonstration, hehe. normally though doing 65-75 mph i'll get like 30-32 mpg, but the urge to press the pedal further down is sometimes too much

Welcome to Club Lexus.

The same driving practices apply to this as any other car with attempting to get the best MPG as possible. Depending where in CA you are getting good MPG in LA is not going to be strong point in the stop go traffic commutes. Get the car on the highway at 65-70 will be the nice spot on long trips. Keeping it in good running order, using good gas and not having excess weight on-in the car.

Not going to happen if you spend a lot of time idling but on the highway you can get 500 from one tank even with some spirited driving.

I've been averaging over 25 MPG on the highway and around 18 in city driving. I think that's pretty impressive for a car this size and with this much power. My 07 Z06 got around 6 MPG in the city.....
