I only use premium. Increase you tire pressures to there maximums and you will get amazing milage.
I can get 8.0Litres for every 100km when doing straight highway.

These cars are worth the gas they burn.

I get 17-20mpg, usual fill-up for me is 14-16 gallons. I religiously use Chevron or Shell, Costco on occasion and no Arco junk.

The reason you're not supposed to take it to the empty light is so you don't run the fuel pump dry. If anything like dust or flies gets into your tank- remember the tank is not full of water, it's gasoline. It'll break everything down into a nice musch for your fuel filter to eat. Seriously though, when was the last time a bug made it's way down your gas tank pipe?
Don't forget there's a nylon sock on the pump pickup, but it's only a 90 micron filter.

Default Full VS Empty mileage

I've been watching my mileage on the computer and it seems like the mileage goes down the less gas there is in the tank. This is in city freeway and traffic jam rush hour 14 miles each way.

Full 20.8 mpg at 1/4 tank 18.2 coincidence?

Is there a tech reason?

I drive like a bat out of hell half the time and a model citizen the next half.
And still get over 22 all the time.

For me, that basically means I can drive about 80-100 miles before refueling. Call me lazy,.......

I have to agree. I drove recently with the light on for almost 50 miles and got nervous. Un-needed though because the pump stopped at roughly 18.5 gallons; I tried to put in more but no go. I had 460 miles on that tank. Thats 25 mpg!!

Amazing V-8 gas sucker hey?
I know it ain't 40-50 mpgs deisel, but what more can you ask for out of a Classic car?

I never got this good mileage before. Trust me. Regular maintenance can do wonders. (good filters, plugs, wires, fluids, tires, and more make a huge differece.)

All of you out there getting 12-20 mpg need to lay down a bit at the stop lights.

I would kill myself if my Lexus got mileage that bad. My first tank of gas (still on it), it's at the 1/4 mark with 330 miles on it, and I still think it's not good enough. Hah!

I've been at 19-21 consistantly since the last post. Loafing around town on the freeway. (60-70mph)

I live above 5000 ft elevation..that may have something to do with it.
I get 28 on road trips at 800 to 2000 ft elev.

I consistently get 21 to 23 mpg, even in mostly city driving. There is so much to love about these cars and the fuel mileage is just the icing on the cake! I won't be owing anything other than an LS from here on out.
