Default 1990 LS intake install PICS

I bought this used from another user here, BHC. Cool guy from the LA area who has a NICE 93 LS. It's in great condition and has alot of exterior additions. Nice guy!

It's a K&N that BHC believed was custom made for the LS (since the LS isn't listed supposedly on the website.)

It GROWLS when you punch the gas, but when you are normally driving it's quiet like the stock filter. I'm not sure about the power change, too little of a difference to tell. Anyone have any clues on what an intake will do for an LS? If so please post..

On to the pics..

hope you like the growl . The intake is more for sound than anything else...a nice one at that hehe. I did notice that at higher rpms, the intake kicks in and the car picks up a little bit of power.

One of my buddies suggested that to truly appreciate an intake, you should get bigger mufflers since you're getting more air inflow...should get more air outflow. At least on his maxima, you get that nice sucking sound from the intake and a low hum from the OBX muffler. Sounds powerful...yet nothing extremely loud like those rice rocket civics.

I don't think this intake will fit on a 93 up LS400 right? I think the 93 up LS has another rubber tube right after the filter and adapter.

Yes I believe spykedawg has done it to his 93 with a Akimoto intake cone head.

That's not an intake, it's a conical filter mounted directly to the mass air meter eliminating the factory air box.

Uh, the car doesn't run?

Actually, it probably would run in 'limp home mode' if the MAM was removed/disconnected.

Ok, well I'd like to know more about this.

So how does a real full intake get installed? Does the mass air sensor get removed? How does this work on other import cars like civics and celicas? Intakes are installed all the time, and from pictures there doesn't seem to be any electronic sensor from the intake manifold point to the filter? (maybe I'm not looking hard enough?)

Any explanations please?

Besides from 80-110 seems slower than the stock filter.

Use just need a tube that will have the hole fitments for all those sensors from the original tubing.
