Default Ram Air/CAI?

My intake fits together poorly and has gaps where the small piece, air filter holder and the big long piece come together..Not sure why, but it's annoying as hell and I know my car isn't getting the air it needs.

Are there any aftermarket ram air or cai kits for these cars that I can use a K&N with?

^^^ thats the most coast effective way to do it,

if u have a 1st gen Ls then injen makes a kit if you want to swap the pipes out for a better look, the kit runs about $235 and it says its for a sc400 but since the sc400 and the Ls400 have the same motor it fits just fine. im not a 100% sure if it would fit on the 2nd gen Ls but i would think it would (some1 correct me if im wrong)

but if you dont want to spend that much on an intake u can buy a MAF adapter and then u would have more options on what kind of air filter you want if you dont like the k&n drop in filter. the MAf adaper runs like $20 firc

Waste of money. Run your car with the air filter completely off and you will see that there is no difference. The stock system puts minimal restriction as is so don't waste your money. All you will get is a louder sound that makes you think you have more power but you will not. If you change your exhaust then maybe a ram air will help but not with the stock exhaust. The connection you mentioned that has a gap is supposed to have some foam on it to fill that gap. Maybe you can get some foam from an auto parts store and stick it on there.

The factory intake is somewhat restrictive , not as bad as others with tons of baffling but can be improved. The headlight bypass thing is a waste of time to me .
