Default Just changed all my interior lights to SMD/LED bulbs!!!

So, I took out all the stock bulbs and replaced them with SMD/LED bulbs. Check it out:

It's so bright in my car when I open the door, haha.

This is my second mod to the car. The first was putting 6000K HIDs for the lowbeam and 3000K HIDs for the fog lights. Next up, I'll be merging the stock bumper with one from an 04-06 LS430.

If it provides a quicker answer, I pulled up Pure's sticky about the '95-'00 UCF20/21 FAQ and found the bulb sizes:

2 x #74 for footwells
1 x #74 for ignition cylinder (led will need some sanding to fit right)
1 x #74 for glovebox

4 x #194 for doorlights
4 x #194 for rear maplights(on C pillar)+rear door dome lights
2 x #194 for front corner markers
2 x #194 for rear license plate lights
1 x #194 for trunk interior light (do the neon conversion, MUCH better light output than any 194 bulb or LED)

2 x BA9 for front maplights
2 x BA9 for rear maplights

1 x 31mm dome light

2 x 7440 for Rear Turn Signals
4 x 7443 for Rear Brake Lights
2 x 7440 for Reverse Lights

Using those numbers for reference, I got on eBay and found all the bulbs, in blue LED (along with various other colors) that I needed (granted they weren't all from the same seller). All in all, bulbs+shipping were $43.81 (for just the interior lights). We'll see how this goes.

You can get most of these bulbs on ebay, just type up SMD bulbs and you can find them. The prices varies, depending on how many SMDs are on each bulbs. Like, the dome light, I had 6 SMDs, but it's more expensive when there's like 9 SMDs, and so on. They're definitely nice. I am selling the extras I have on the classified right now, but it's pending sale to a member on VSC for $25 shipped.

Yeah, that's what I used and that's about what I paid. Someone should put together a WHOLLEEEE PACKAGE for changing every single lights on the car, both interior, trunk, exterior, ect.

this looks awesome!

a couple years back i started swapping out all my bulbs from LEDs. i got pretty far but after a year, the license plate ones went out, and a couple others began flickering. it could just be my car.

for me, the safest route was to just go back to the standard bulbs. i also like the warmer feel of the yellow lights and my car is almost 12 years old, so regardless of what i do to it, its still an old car

I like this mod so much that if I even do have to change every single bulbs once a year, that won't really bother me. It took less than an hour to replace all of them and the way it looks is totally worth the effort imo.

Looks cool. If I ever buy another LS I will do that.

I wonder if those can be used in a 1988 Mercedes... my interior lighting is so... well... 80s.

What's with the extra headrests? Are the stock ones not VIP enough?

I got my #74 bulbs today for the footwells, ignition and glovebox. For the life of me, I can NOT get the current bulbs out of the footwells. I pull and pull, but they don't budge a millimeter. The glovebox bulb came out fine, but the LED I bought to replace it does not "lock" into place like the OEM bulb did. It lights up when I press my finger to it, but will not stay in the socket. I hope the rest of the bulbs are easier than this...

Haven't tried the ignition one yet...I'll wait 'till I can feel my hands to do that one.

Romeo, in the pictures it seems you didn't change your footwell bulbs.
