Default Tilt & Telescoping Steering Control -Tried Search!!

I tried searching to no avail......yesterday my telescoping went out on my 1997 but the tilt is still working. when i hit the toggle to telescope in i can hear the control module click but not when telescope out.

my question is how do i tell if the control module is bad or if its the motor?
is there one motor for all 4 motions?

thanks for the help yall from a newbie!

Hi, mine has started to do the same sometimes. i think its because the weather changing to cold and wet. i'm planning on give the plugs etc some wd40 when i got the time for it. its only sometimes i got problems and sometimes i can get it to work again if i knock a little on the steering colum while i insert the key.

i got the problem with the tilt. my telescope works all the time. so i think it can be fixed. and i dont think its the motor.

There are two motors (built together with gear assemblies etc), which are quite expensive at the dealership. The telescopic is in the vicinity of $2K and the tilt is some $5-600.
I.e. try to get the connections fixed or even try to repair the motor unit.

Solok25, i think i have seen that video, but the problem the guy in that video has is that he can hear the motor spin around but the tilt is not moving. its because of the cogwheel is damaged and missing the points.

Our problem is that the tilt dont work sometimes and there is only a click sound from the relay.

But if you have a link to the video you are talking about please link to it :-) maybe its not the one i'm thinking of.
