Default new owner with questions - clunk?

hey guys, just wanted to check in, im a recent proud owner of a 97 coach edition ls400 with about 167k

car is in wonderful condition except for one thing (so far)

when going up or down driveways and when hitting the brakes somewhat hard there is a clunk in the front end. no problems with steering or accelration. i am pretty car savy just not with this one yet. does anyone have any ideas what this could be? ie. something that is common with these cars, a bad bushing, tranny mount, steering component?

thanks yall!

For and aft clunk upon braking force warrants looking at the drag strut bushings at the front on either side of the radiator support. Also, you may have a loose or stripped caliper bolt . . . check all four. And I guess you could have a thrashed upper control arm ball joint or bushing where you get noise on bumps and potholes too.

thanks for the replys yall. I checked the drag strut bushings and although they were pretty nasty looking the rubber was still intact. Dx ended up being a bad right lower ball joint.
