Default Where to buy coilovers for '96 Ls400

Hi
I'm looking for advice on where to buy coil overs to replace the stock shocks on my 96 LS400. Also, I want to drop the ride height about 2 inches; will lowering this much be a problem with tires rubbing on hard cornering/bumps? I found some online but it was over $2000 for both front and back. Any other place where I can get them? I have replaced the stock wheels w/ 18" aftermarket wheels w/ 235/45R18 tires. Thanks.

you can get megan or ksports on ebay for around $850 shipped and if your going to go with 18's you might want to go with a staggered setup, it looks way mo betta

I believe that you can get a 2 inch drop out of lowering springs if you don't care about ride height adjustment and don't plan on going any lower. Springs can be had for somewhere in the neighborhood of 250-350 depending on brand.

Default suspension mods (lowering) for '96 LS400

Thanks to all who responded to my post for suspension mod/lowering advice. I found two solutions: Street LP Series Coilover Damper kit from Megan Racing ($1050) and Tein Comfort Sport Coilovers from Luxury Mods ($1639). Anyone installed either of these on their LS400 and/or have a reco on which ones to go with? I found a speed shop who will install and do a 4 wheel alignment for $750. Thanks.

Search for 'Megan' in this forum and you'll find quite a few of us are using them. I love my Megans. You can get them for ~$825 shipped all day from the vendors on this site.
Teins don't go nearly as low - if you care. Ride is about the same from all the reviews I've read.

^^ Word.

I also have Megans and love them. I paid a grand total of $870 (including extensions ***** for the back) through the vendor Nigel.

A lot of guys on here are running them, if for no other reason than they're hella cheaper than the other brands.

I just bought BC racing Coilovers for my 1999 LS400, i am waiting for them to arrive, i will be installing them soon and post the results. I also just installed the five spoke LS430 18" wheels. The only issue i have with the 18" wheels is that i get a lot of road noise.

Can anyone recommend a good set of tires for these rims that will help reduce road noise?

Does anyone else on this forum use BC racing coilovers and which dampening/height setting do you guys like?

megans go for $8xx not $1050. theres a couple vendors here that can get u that price.

that install and alignment is kinda high...i would suggest u go into the regional forum and ask to see if anyone can guide you to a shop. or DIY its very easy.

I just installed Megans also and I drove to Sema last week and my ride drove like a dream. For the price, Megans are the bomb.

Well, i'll have to differ on the opinion of megans. I had them on my 1st gen LS and they were kinda stiff. Not complaining, because it made spirited driving alot of fun. But I had D2s' on my 98 and loved them. I had them set at about half and the ride was perfect. And that's what I just ordered for my 97 that i'm building now. And it only cost me $890 shipped.
