Default Transmission messed up?

98 ls400 102,000miles

There was another post very similar to mind but cant seem to find it rite now...someone please lead me in the right direction about my transmission...when i move the shifter from "P" to "D" or any other forward gear my car will just sit there and it will not take off. A couple times it sat still for 5-10 mins then slowly started rolling by itself. but i usually have to give it a little "help" by revving the engine to make the gears engage. When the engine is at operating temp this seems to work easier as opposed to a when cold. However, i know i shouldnt be having to do this in the first place. when going into "R" there is a 1-2 second pause but it does go into gear. i guess that is one upside to my situation as i've read that usually the "R" is the first to go out and let you know you transmission is shot. The transmission fluid was drained/filled and still looks in good condition. One thing i did notice is that it may be slightly overfilled and based off the previous maint records the filter hasnt been replaced. CEL came on and i got the codes P0500 Speed Sensor and P0155 oxygen sensor. i plan on fixing these in hopes that it will solve my problem, but everything i've read on here/google/the whole internet is leaning towards a new trans. but i've also read that lex trans are usually top notch. Is there one thing or a combo of things that could make my car do this? or is it really time for a new trans? Thanks in advance for the help!

have the system flushed with proper Toyota T-IV fluid. sounds like the torque converter isnt working properly/and or the incorrect fluid was used.

x2

Transmission fluid...

If possible flush twice (flush, then start the car and go trough all the gears, and then flush again so you get the most of the old fluid out of your gearbox)...
