Default Questions on Factory 95 LS400 stereo

Few questions about my 1995 LS400. I asked this in the Audio section but I dont think a lot of people frequent that area, kind of need an answer fast...

1. How do I tell if I have the Nakamichi HU or just the regular one? Does it actually say Nakamichi on the HU? If I remember correctly, not all Nakamichi HU's actually say it on the front I DO know that my car came with the 6 disc CD changer thats on top of the glove box, if that helps?

2. Do I need to run any kind of Hi/Lo convertor if I want to use the factory door speakers with an aftermarket HU? Or can I just wire up the Aftermarket one and run it like that, without a convertor?

3. Are the factory door speakers amplified?

I'm planning on using an aftermarket HU, factory speakers, and removing the factory subwoofer so I can run 2 12's and an amp.

are you the same thebeeguy that use to have the first gen LS400 !!!!!! if you have nak it will say in the front. if it doesnt say it you probably have the pioneer premium like me. are you going to add a new deck or try to use the original with speaker and amp upgrade???? yes the door speakers are amplified. the amplifier is under the front passenger seat. if you have any other question just PM. i pretty much redid the whole system in my 95 LS400 like a load of times.

Haha yes thats me. I sold that and now have a 95

Well, when I asked this question i was going to use the factory door speakers, but now after reading up on how much of a ***** it is to rewire this stuff to work with the factory door speaker amp, I'm just going to replace the stock door speakers with components and buy another amp, since I have to do almost as much wiring either way.

someone needs to keep up on the VIP subforum

LexKost is running components + 4chan on his car with an aftermarket headunit....the basic wiring should be the same.

Hahaha, I didnt have the MR2 long enough to miss it, rofl

I can live with the car being stock height with stock wheels for a while, but I cant live any longer with this weak *** stereo system... I miss shaking windows and getting headaches from my brain rattling around in my head

Cool me and LexKost on similar track!!!
I got a Pioneer AVH-P5700 w/ CDT Comp. I think i just went with 5.25 all around and bored out the original box a bit. I have a Sundown 100.4 4 Channel Amp.

Are you going to add a sub like your first gen. i believe you also had an audio setup in there also or just air suspension??

Yea I'm picking up 2 12" JL W6V2's in a box this weekend from a friend of mine.

In my old LS I had a 15" Kicker Solobaric L7 and a Phoenix gold mono amp. I also Dynamatted the whole trunk, that thing hit like a mother... The trunk looked like a mess though, I never got around to making that part pretty haha, strictly business with the 2 air tanks, comps, sub and amp with that one

I wanted to go with 2 12"s because when I had the 15, it only sounded good with super low bass.

*sigh* this audio build is starting to add up VERY quickly lol

Yea, UAS again, but thats wayy down the line. Probably not going with JIC's this time, they rode GREAT but the cost is ridiculous, little too impractical for me at the moment.
