Why lose Fogs by putting in HID retrofit kit?
I noticed that people with 90-94 LS who put in HID retrofit kits report losing the high beam (which i understand) but also losing the foglights?! Can anyone please explain to me why you would lose the foglights? For the 93-94 I know that the light bulb is an H4 type while the foglight is an H3c type so aren't they independent of one another? I'm just really concerned because I just purchased a HID kit and dont want to lose my fogs.

Fogs
According to the 92 LS shop manual wiring diagram I don't see why you would lose the fogs by installing HID correctly.
But then why does it matter since on the Lexus series the low beams are always on with the fogs making them useless for their actual purpose anyway?

I went to the local car electronic technicial and they said that they can convert the foglight the become a high beam or if you notice the foglight right now you have to turn the headlight on to be able to operate the fog light, they say that they can convert the foglight so that you don't have to turn the headlight to be able to operate the foglight. You can just turn on the dim light and turn on the foglight without the headlight operate. And if you put the big bright bulb on the foglight it should operate like another headlight (depend on your light adjustment) Anyway, they will be able to do it for less than $80.00

the only thing they are going to be doing is changing the ground wire on the fog lights from the low beam to one of your parking lights and charging you 80 bucks. all you have to do is splice your ground wire on your fog light and connect it to your parking light

thanks for the replies guys...basically i'm getting a bi-xenon bulb, which keeps the Hi beam along with the Lo beam in a single bulb (high beam controlled by a shutter). Therefore, I do not need to convert my fogs into high beams... I just want to keep my fogs the way they are. So all i'm doing is putting in 2 HID bulbs and 2 ballasts as a direct replacement for the 2 existing H4 bulbs...nothing more. I get to keep the fogs ya?

bi-xenon??
The only bi-xenons I know of use the factory auto-leveling motor to "shuttle" the HIDs "up" for high beam (along with activating actual {additional}high beam bulbs) and back down into nrmal low beam position otehrwise.

well i havent received the kit yet, but according to the seller, it works just like any other H4...both hi/lo built into the bulb. I'm not exactly sure how that works...but he did mention that the Hi/Lo combo was only available for the H4 type and nothing else...
