Smile HELP...1996 LS400 lexus starts 2 seconds dies over and over will not run

I have a 1996 LS400 lexus that will start but only 2 seconds at a time.......im new here name is kevin thanks in advance for any ideas

I put scanner on but no...probably were when the little auto shop dad took it too to fix first got it,,,,,,,,dads car by the way, he is 83....they had the car 4 months tinkered here and there. I cant see that they did anything as to new parts, but codes are cleared if were any

Now i think were on to something!!!! thank you so much will be a few days for me get it out of the car for closer inspection and most definitely will post my findings

I had that same situation with a 96 LS400. It was a bad coil. The wiring and plug for the coils are something you can easily check. After that, buy a single coil and try it in place of each of the two on your car, one at a time.

Unplug the MAF, then start it up and see if it runs.

I have opened the ecm....all " looks" well but would like have it tested as i know could be bad.....can anyone recomend a place to send for testing

just put ecm back in left it hanging tried start same thing but threw a codeP0110 intake air temperature sensor 1 circuit........im thinking this could be an issue but not THE issue keeping if from staying running? replaced both coils still just starts up and dies....i do smell unburnt nasty gas smell

Did you unplug the MAF like I suggested? A fouled MAF can prevent the car from running. The IAT sensor is in the MAF.

yes i did unplug and guessing thats when code popped up on puter thanks
