Default trip to the shop..

Ok guys, I finally got my tax return and took my baby in for it's scheduled belt change..

For $908.65 this is what I got done..

Timing belt
Water pump
Tensioners
Crank seals
Air filter

Maybe a bit pricey, but I shopped around, and this was the cheapest I could find.

You know what the biggest improvement came from? The air filter LOL..it was completely clogged! My rolling accleration has pretty much all came back..next is spark plugs and new wires.

Funny thing was, the place offered me a loaner car..can anyone guess what it was? LOL A 1970(80?) something celica/supra! LOL all beat up! LOL I declined and called a friend...whew

Can you list the price for each item once it is done? also, the labor charge.
What happen with the transmission? Is it better yet?

I had similar work done on my LS400 (90) a year ago. Timing belt blew and I had a door problem at the same time. The nearest Lexus dealer is about 90 minutes away so I have my work done locally at a well-regarded import shop. May not be a good deal, but here's what it ran me:

Parts:
Idle Pulley 70.43
Timing Belt 89.52
Tensioner Pulley 108.36
Upper Hose 20.15
Thermostat Seal 1.23
Water Pump 140.97
Serpentine Belt 62.75
Thermostat 11.30
Coolant 8.90

Labor :
Replacement of all listed parts, index cams (?), compression check, also take apart right front door and re-assemble latch assembly.

Labor cost 472.50 - 10.5 hours @ $45/hr (not itemized on bill)

-Just for reference sake

I'll get the itemized paper soon, too lazy to get it out of the car.

Tonight for sure..

roguenode - What happens when the timing belt blows? Is the car undriveable?

lvangundy - Was this at the San Pedro shop?
