Default How to add freon on a 99 LS400?

I try to search but couldn't be sure. Would it be the port on the line by the right hand side(when facing the engine), behind the engine and brake master cylinder? Please advise!!

I'm assuming you mean freon. You have to add it on the low side with the cap marked 'L' which is by the firewall on the driver's side.

Make sure you watch the pressure as you don't want to blow out your compressor or lines.

Yes I do!! Thanks for the correction. I should learn how to spell...

Unfortunately, I am missing a cap on the line where I *think* is the low side of the system. It's a thick line below the brake master cylinder, right? I'll try to get some pictures tonight and hopefully you can tell me if it's the right one.

Since it doesn't have a cap on it, it's quite dirty. I'll clean it as best as I can, but would dirt gets inside the system if I try to fill it?

Thanks for the help!!!!

I guess the line that I thought was the low side fill line might not be correct. I put in the pressure value to check the psi on the line and it's showing 100+. The line circle in red is the line I put the value on. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

Would someone please direct me to the correct line to fill the freon??

Thanks!

Default 100psi?

If the OP read 100psi at the port on the "low" side, isn't this high...and shouldn't he be bleeding off refrigerant rather than adding?

Default A/C recharge & diagnostic info

I always understood correct low side to be 25-35 psi and the high side to be 2.3 times the ambient temperature. Go here for detailed info:

Hi Guys, I did measure the line when the engine was off and just started running. Once the compressor kicked in and the fan is running the psi dropped to 40psi or so. After adding some freon from the can the air is still not too cold. But the psi is up on the gauge at the "yellow" portion approaching the "red" zone. Would it be safe to just press the pin in the low side port to bleed of pressure? If so, should I do it when the car is off or on? Thanks!
