Default 98LS400 starter replacement ALMOST went flawlessly

The starter replacement on my 98 LS went well until I broke off the nipple on the air intake connector .There are 3 tubes connected to that box ,(it's that black box on the left side of the intake ,it has a tube that runs to the throttle body )and I broke off the nipple on the back where a small tube fits onto it(It's the EVAP hose nipple that I broke ).The tube that runs over the intake .the plastic was very brittle ,I hardly applied any pressure to it ,and SNAP .So now I have no way of connecting the rubber line back onto the box .Lexus wants $368.49 for that piece of plastic .Would it be feasible to epoxy another nipple to it ,and stick the hose back on ?

I'd try damn near anything before spending $368 on a part.

Thanks guys .Is it possible to relocate a new hole ,say a inch lower than the original one ?The brake is in a bad spot ,right at the lip of the lit ,so it would be hard to get anything to fit on there flush .I would just seal the old hole .It's just going into a big air box type thing .

Congratulations on your DIY. Breaking a part or drawing blood goes with the territory.

Yea ,what I did was go to my local hardware store ,find a plastic thing in the plumbing section ,that was barbed on both ends .One end fit PERFECT into the broken hole ,and the other ,man the hose could not have fit any better .Bought some jb weld type stuff ,and it went together perfect .The fix cost me about $12.00 .Better than the Stupid dealer !!! Anyway ,Im done ,and the car STARTS GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank god that project id DONE .Later

By the way ,I took the old starter to Auto zone ,and had it tested for fun .The stupid thing passed on 4 tries !!Didn't come up "bad" one time .Whats with that ???Maybe it was because I hod messed around with the gear ,and pulled it out and pushed it in a few times .Who knows .
