Default Looking to buy my first Lexus, is this a fair price? Pictures included

I'm in college and have been looking at purchasing a reasonably priced used car. I've had my eye on an 1996 LS400 for the past few days. Right now the guy is asking $8500.

What would be a fair offer? In the past 48 hours he has already dropped the price $1300 and the lower the monthly payments while I'm in school the better.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

I know its fully loaded with air suspension/nak and the "extra's" but 8000 is 98+ territory.

I think it would be a good deal if the servicing is up to date and you are happy with the looks. If you would mod it and change rims and stereo equipment etc, you would be better off looking for a newer model since it is a little on the expensive side. Another thing to consider is the condition of the air suspension, big money to replace. If you go to the dealer $1000.00 per corner, and the best case is $399.00 per corner here http://www.arnottindustries.com/part...id7_pid47.html

a car is worth what you're willing to pay for it.

you can take all the advice you want, but many things on a car are completely out of your control.

offer him 7k and tell him you've got two other cars lined up that your looking at. Give it 2-3 days and if he does not call back, give him a call and see where he is at.

good luck.

inspect the car for any problems...power steering leak, starter replacement, alternator, steering wheel pump, water pump... then tell the buyer to reduce the prise more based on that.

offer him 6k, but dont plan on spending much over 7 on that. For what he's asking you really could find a newer one. Was it originally listed at $9800?!?!
