Suspension & wheel recommendation?
Hello all,
I would like to update the look of my 96 LS, but need some help making a decision. The most important parameter is ride quality. I am not necessarily into the whole VIP style of super slamming the car with ultra low profile tires, just a little lower with a bit larger radius wheel. Do I need just coils over stock shocks or should I do a whole setup? Also as I have read tire height plays a great deal in ride quality, should I go with at least 40 or 45s?
Any suggestions as to setup, wheel size and tire height are welcome.
Thanks!

Hey thanks. My setup has H&R with Bilstein HD struts. If you want OEM ride then I would go with Tanabe's as they are softer. You can use OEM struts however they will eventually blow. If you replace struts many use Tokiko and/or Bilstein HD. Keep in mind tho Bilstein will be stiff, nothing like OEM. If budget is not limited, you should consider coilovers since they are the only way to effectively drop the vehicle and control ride quality though. I like my setup but if I had to do it all over again I would buy coilovers.
As for tires, OEM are 60 series. I am running 40's x 18" diameter. The overall OD is close to OEM and I do not have issues with tires hitting. Offsets are important to avoid rubbing. I am running +35 (OEM is +45). Tires are 245 front and 285 rear. If you do not like the staggered look I would go with 245's all the way around and you could rotate
My setup is not VIP - not sure what you call it. I use it as my daily and drive 80 miles each day so I need something that won't give me issues.
