Default Dash Array replaced. What is that?

A couple of years ago I had the dash array replaced on my 93 LS400. Now I can't remember why or even what it is, but I know it did not fix a couple of issues that I am wanting resolved now. What is a dash array?

Oops, sorry. I didn't intro myself. I am elderly lady with mechanical bent and I just love my '93 Lexus. I am trying to get it to 200k or more if I can. I bought it from original owner in 2004 with 95k miles and had timing belt replaced, fixed a few little leaks and flushed and replaced most fluids.

Dash array would be the instraument panel with the speedometer, fuel gauge temp gauge and such. With Lexus' immulinated dash design it was not unheard of for the dash to have trouble with the illumination, and since the car is a good deal electronic, some of the diodes and capacitors were subject to burnout. It is a very costly repair, but once done will last quite a long time. Symptoms of the instraument cluster going bad were flickering cluster, flickering needles, stuck needles, intermittent blackout of cluster, etc.

This thread will help you better understand what some of the symptoms were as well as some of the fixes.
