I was changing out the plugs yesterday, trying to be gentle and take my time. When trying to remove this black box of death, the plastic nipple on this hose broke off flush from the box and remained in the hose. This is on a 2000 LS 400.

What is this huge black box and what is the purpose of this hose? It almost seems to be some type of PCV hose.

I"m pointing at said hose with a screwdriver in these pics.

Thanks,

that is
PCV Hose
which connects to Intake Air Connector. This part is used to blow air for the EVAP system in fuel tank.

thanks for the response. Right now the hose is sitting against the intake air connector. It's still technically broken off. I'm sure that box is expensive. I'm thinking i may try to glue it up with some plastic epoxy.

What harm will be caused if i leave this thing unhooked for a short time? Just a CEL? Right now i have driven for a day like this and everything seems fine.
