LS400_96

I am thinking about buying a used transmission to swap into my '96 LS400. The tranny is having some problems.

1. Which year would fit for a '96 LS400?

2. How much should I think about paying?

3. Should I also change the torque converter?

I am looking for one with low miles. I would like to hear your opinions. Thanks.

don't need a separate thread for this, and i doubt that a whining noise signifies a dead trans, try a fluid flush and as another member suggested, dropping the pan and cleaning the metal screen (no paper/foam filter in the trans).
