Default Question 98 LS Navi

I am looking at buying a 98 LS 400 and it has the navigation system in it, which I care less about. Has anyone ever replaced this system with an aftermarket one? Can it be done?

Thanks for the help

I wouldn't bother. Get a TomTom:
http://www.tomtom.com/
Can use it in more than one car, ie.- rental, loaner, etc. Also always uptodate!

Hey wait a minute.. Ron, I have an LS, it's a 98, and it has Nav... and you are the club president of our club, ELITE... is there something you're not telling me? Haha!! Anyways, there shouldn't be a problem with replacing the stock nav unit with an aftermarket one, but why would you? I'm happy with mine, and it gets me where I need to go.

The big issue is the HVAC control. A GS owner reported recently that he used the HVAC controls from a non-nav GS with his aftermarket nav and that the non-nav HVAC controls were plug compatible with the HVAC connectors in his GS with OEM nav.

I don't remember if anyone has reported trying to use the HVAC controls from a non-nav 98-00 LS in a 98-00 LS with nav.

The HVAC controls from non-nav LS400s are fairly inexpensive on eBay but who knows if they would work on a LS400 with OEM nav.
