Default Difference between 90-92 LS and 93 LS

Can you guy tell me the difference between the 90-92 LS400 and the 93 LS400.
I know that it has larger wheels, 16".
What about the A/C, did they changed to r134a freon yet?
What were the standard option for the car?
What were the options for that year? Heated seats, Memory seats, auto tilt steering, traction control, seat belt adjuster, stereo sys.
How much for a 93 LS400 @110K miles worth?
I haven't see the car yet so I don't know what options does it has.

Thanks,

This is all the info I know of, taken from an earlier post.--

"Be warned though, there were quite a few cosmetic and some mecahnical changes throughout the years for the first gen LS's.

I forgot which, but in 1991 or 92 the front rotors were increased in size, I think because the early ones (90 and or 91) were too small and didn't last too long because they heated, then warped and quickly wore out the pads. bigger brakes on such a big car were a good idea anyway :-)

1991 Added the 30 second delay to power the windows after the ignoition was off so you could roll them up if you forgot after you took the key out.

1993 Had the most additions as I know with the auto dimming mirror option, passenger side airbag, auto on/off headlights and a few other changes including much needed bigger tires.

1994 Was the closest out of the first generation models to look like the next Gen style. (1995)"

Default Differences

1990 The first Lexus LS400
1991 There is a slight refinement in the front brakes to provide better pedal feel.
1992 No changes
1993 Larger 16" tires and brakes, Passenger side air bag added, CFC free air conditioning with a pollen filter, Automatic headlamps, styling touch-ups and several interior refinements. ( '93 also rates as the most reliable of this reliable group. This is the year to look for.)
1994 No changes, Same as '93

Anybody knows begining what year the LS has the ambient/interior temperature gauge?

lvangundy,

"1993 Had the most additions as I know with the auto dimming mirror option"
Is it automatic when the headlight of the car behind shine on and the mirror darken or is it like my SC400 need to push a button to darken the mirror.

Default Out/in temperature

I have the dealers only "minor adjustment" leaflet on the 1993 LS 400 (Swizz model) where it states that this was the first year for the out/indoor temperature measurement.
This has a double function, to warn of icing conditions and also to adjust the functions of the air condition temperature. The air condition will not vary more than 5- 10 degrees celcius below the outside temp.
My LS 400 has not the automatic rear view mirror , only the manual. There was no such advanced on the Euro LS 400 in 93.

if I'm not mistaken, the '93-94 LS400s have bigger bumpers too (at least the rear one). If you pay close attention, aside from looking at the wheels, you can tell weather it's a 90-92 model, or 93-94 model. Anyone noticed this before?

VQT: Auto dimming mirrors mean they dim automatically, where as the older LS's have a button you have to press manually to dim the rearview mirror.

Azari: The "bigger" bumpers you are referring to is just the lower black moldings on the car (front+side+rear) being painted the same color as the lower half of the body to give it a more full/flush look.

One more difference is that the auto-telescoping steering wheel was added in 91. 1990 had the manual type.

Tilt Steering Wheel-

It was optional even in 1990/1/2 but was made standard in 1993.

Thats odd. I would have thought that tilt steering would have been standard on even the 90-92 LS400s. I would guess that 99.9% if not even 100% were ordered with the option.

The grills are different as well, the 90-92 grills have the vents stick out from side to side. The 93-94 LS grills have the vents stick out from side to side as well as up and down. I hope I explained that clearly.

BR1AN,
Are you sure it's just painted the moldings? If that's the case, then it has made an incredible difference (relatively speaking, with just painting it). It has made the back of the car more substantial and even more contemporary. Wish they had done it to 90-92 as well. It's most noticable on light color LS. Fortunately mine is a darker color, so it looks as if they painted the molding as well.

Positive. Painted moldings DO make an incredible difference. Actually...the side moldings are a LITTLE different. On the newer models...the side moldings are a lot more smoother (meaning they have no grooves like the older moldings). You're not the only one who wishes they did it to the 90-92 as well...TRUST me....you have NO idea....just feel lucky that you have a darker color.
