Exclamation Park(P),engage foot brake or Foot brake then park ?

I'm not sure if something is wrong with my shift ****,tranny or its the slight uphill driveway, but lately I have been having problems shifting from park to reverse from my driveway.
Twice this week I've had to use my key to dis-engage the shift **** to be able to shift into reverse(R).
From my personal observation,I've noticed when I pull in into my driveway(uphill),shift to neutral(N),engage foot brake then shift to park(P),everything is fine the next day,no hard time shifting to reverse.
The problem comes when I pull in,shift to park(P) and engage the foot brake.
You guys opinions, experience or tips will be appreciated.

Specs on car...year, miles?

Try this: Instead of going from P-R, how is the shift from P-D? If it is smooth, I'd do the shift from P-D and now that it is inched forward, I'd go from D-R. Some inclines can get the car to roll back but the tranny should be able to compensate unless it is wearing.

meh, i've always had the habit of putting the car in neutral, engaging the parking brake, then putting it into Park.

this means that the weight of the car (on say, an incline) is on the parking brake 100% and not on the park pawl in the trans.

That kinda makes sense.I figured because the car is on incline thats why its giving me a hard time shifting from park to reverse.
My car specs are 1994 LS400 with 133,000 miles.

pull up driveway hold brake engage park brake then park. i understand that some cant do this cause its a foot park brake but yeah def use the park brake to keep the car from lurching instead of the trans. makes life easier for that hunk of sludge to do its job.
