Default What offset will fot a 95 LS 400

I know this has been discussed many times but I am confused.I have a chance to buy some Versa wheels from a member on this forum. The wheels came off his GS400.It has 5x114.3 and 40 offset. If I do rememeber, the offset and the 5x114.3 does not help but rather all those #s plus the hubcentric meaurement etc..... to clear those big calipers. Can someone tell me if 40+ fitment will work on a 95 ls 400?

If it isn't a high disk fitment it isn't likely to clear. Does the GS have a BBK installed? If so, you are probably good, if not...

+40 is fine - you may want spacers after you install them to get better fitment. If he says he has a BBK then they should fit. Maybe get a pic of them on the car? It would be a bummer if they did not fit, etc.

You should be good with those. PD will want you to shave the inner fender and push them out.

lol, a 20x10 +0 would be perfectly fine in the rear, should be about the same as my 20x10.5 +12

front will be "interesting".

too much poke on a 20x8.5 +0 for the front

Seriously as long as they are for BBK then I don't see why they would not. I have +35 with no spacers and mine fit fine. I have 285's on the back which required the fenders to be shaved. I think if I had +40 they would have fit without the shave. Post those pics

I drove 380 miles to buy the rim and I am soo disappointed. It didn't fit.It did not clear the calipers. It was about 50mm left to clear.Probably would have worked with spacers.I am never, ever going to try to buy used wheels again. This is the third time I have tried to buy used wheels and none of them did fit.2 from GS400 members who thought it would fit.I will just try to find a local shop in atlanta who has huge selections.
Tirerack is selling some nice selections in 20s but to much at $350/piece.

Sorry to hear that. Our LS calipers are large. When you visit your local shop (Discount Tire, NTB, etc.) make sure they know it is high disk or BBK. When I bought mine (made by status) they checked the fitment B4 they shipped so it was guaranteed. Your local shop(s) should do the same.

One local shop near me advised to shave the calipers in order to make the wheels clear them I opted to go a different route - that is to find a wheel designed to clear the caliper

I dont mean to thread jack but, it could be useful to others if i get this question answered.

I just puchased some wheels assuming they will fit my 96 LS400. After reading this thread i may not be so sure..

They are:

-19x8.5 +25 Front
-19x9.5 +35 Rear

Do you think i will have any problems?

Thanks.

Good luck!I am never doing mail order when it it comes to the 2nd gen LS because just those specs will never help.I wonder what you told the sales guy when you ordered them because all they know is 5x114.3 high disk or high fitment alone will not help until a tape measure is used.I just changed my rotors 2 hrs ago and I was just starring at those huge calipers that had given me many problems in my 3 tries.
Off topic. Can any 95/96 owners suggest exact wheels that they have ordered.Hopefully my local store can get them.

For inexpensive wheels (less than $300 per) Check Status, Ruff Racing, etc. others will chime in since there are plenty that will clear the front calipers out there.

It isn't offset that matters although it can mean you may have to roll/shave fenders to avoid rubbing. For the 95+ LS it is choosing a wheel with high disk / BBK so front calipers will clear wheels.
