Major xmission rebuild on '99 LS400
FYI -
My '99 LS400 began doing some serious 'lurching' upon downshifting to low, when coming to a normal stop. It happened in every gear except 1 (L). At times it was firm enough that it seemed like I'd been softly rear-ended.
I took it to my dealer, Stevinson Lexus West, the shop foreman agreed that it wasn't right. They called Toyota/Lexus and chatted for some time and decided one of the transmission's galleries or passages must be obstructed, this being in the main transmission assembly.
They kept the car for 4 days, gave me an RX300 loaner, while a new assembly was shipped in from KC. They replaced:
0029501280 F.I.P.G., trans.
3541030850 Body Assy, trans
3523030010 Solenoid Assy, trans
3524030020 Solenoid Assy, trans
3527030030 Solenoid Assy, shift
3528030040 Solenoid Assy, lock
3529030040 Solenoid ***, throt
They replaced it all on warranty. Just got it back and it runs fine.
