Default Bypassing factory Amp - 93 LS

Car: 1993 LS 400
Stereo: Factory Nakamichi

Does anyone who has experience have a wiring diagram or a place to obtain one to bypass the factory Nakamichi amp?

I just installed an aftermarket deck and the factory amp is not allowing it to play to it's fullest sound.

A link, pictures, etc would be extremely helpful.

Thanks guys!

the nak amp doesn't run your door speakers, only the sub.
i just got a wiring adapter from metra and plugged it in. the speaker wires all worked, but i think the constant power wasn't correct so i just made my own.

Interesting...

I'm having the hardest time with the volume of my headunit then.

It seems like maxed out, I can barely hear the thing with the windows down.

Any ideas guys?

Is that my constant power problem?

it sounds like your aftermarket headunit is not strong enough to power your speakers. What headunit do you have?

I don't think it takes much to power factory speakers though. Maybe its the quality of the tracks itself. Is it a burnt cd or an original cd?

Have you tried fm, tape, etc? and see if there was a difference in the sound?

Or maybe you have either the fade and balance control adjusted.

We've tried all of that to no avail...

Correction... In the Pioneer sound system the headunit powers the speakers and has an external amplifier for the sub.
Nakamichi sound system has an external amplifier which powers the speakers and sub!

my 92 had a factory nak system and had only 1 amp for hte sub. door speakers all ran off the head unit.
i just used those factory wires from my head unit to the doors and it worked fine.

This actually makes more sense to me now.

What's funny is I have an audio guy that was willing to take care of this for me for a nominal charge...but he's MIA at the moment...lol.

Daniel, I read your PM and certainly look forward to it.

Thanks very much!

Question 94 LS400 - Nakamichi Headunit and Amp location

Daniel,

I'm a neophyte with stereos. My rear door speakers just quit working. I have a 94LS with stock Nakamichi headunit and 6-disc changer in trunk on passenger side.

1. I don't know if the rear door speakers are powered by the headunit or from an amplifier? AND, I have looked all over and cannot find the amp anywhere.

2. Can you tell me where I can find the amplifier in the car?

3. My stock sub-woofer that sits on the back and top of the rear seat has not worked for several years. Is that powered by a separate amplifier, other than the amplifier that may or may not power the rear door speakers? AND if so, where can I find that amplifier.

I just had an XM skydock installed at Best Buy and that guy told me the amplifier was in the trunk just under the rear subwoofer and looked there and it is not. Also, looked under the passengers seat and it is not located there either.

Thanks for any information or help. Tyn Cobb

Well, the amp should be in the trunk immediately above the cd changer I believe.

Your front and rear door speakers on the 93-94 Nak system are powered by the amp.

The stock sub is also powered by the same amp above the changer.
