Lost all sound...
Hey guys, so I recently had my buddy put in my aftermarket headunit and everything was working great.
The other day I was crusing and all sound from the headunit stopped working. It still plays CD's, still plays the radio (meaning it's still getting power, etc.). I pulled the headunit out and checked for loose connections in the headunit...everything turned out fine.
Is this a symptom of a bad factory amp? We used a harness that integrates into the factory amp, we did not bypass it.
Few questions,
1) Where is the factory amp located?
2) Any one have a diagram showing how to bypass the factory Lexus amp if indeed it is blown.
Thanks guys!

oh and.. i've heard the stock head unit is what powers the speakers.. the amp powered only the sub.. so even if your amp blew it should've only affected your sub.. once again i'm not 100% sure, but just going by what i've heard here.. i know that the second gen's have an amp that powers the speakers

Ok great....I've been unable to meet up with my buddy/installer to have him take a look at this issue due to conflicting schedules. Hopefully we can get together soon.
Is there anyone that can confirm this?

Yes, in the first gen LS, the amp located in the trunk only powered the sub.

+1^^ Amp powers the subs in the first gens. Location,, for the pioneer system-- in the trunk back left behind the trunk lining against the back seat.
For the Nakamichi system,,,Right Rear in the trunk area.

In case you guys are having the same problem, all I did was check the fuses to find the culprit.
There is one located under the dash as well as one located under the hood.
For me, the fuse under the hood was blown, causing my CD player to work, just no sound to come out.
So - one possibly remedy for this problem is check/replace your radio fuses!

I also cannot find the fuse box inside the car. I read the manual and it said that it is located at the driver's kick panel but i can't find it for my life. Can anyone take a picture of it?
