Default '90 LS Shaking - possibly need new rotors.

This has been posted before but i just wanted some other peoples' opinions regarding my problem.

I'm having a bit of a shaking problem with my LS. When i'm driving at highway speed (55+) i start to feel the car shaking. It feels like its coming from the front passenger side. Then when i apply the brake i REALLY FEEL IT SHAKE in the steering wheel and brake pedal, as well as making a thumping noise. I'm thinking its a warped rotor. I'm wondering what you guys have to say about it. Maybe it could be something else.

Also when looking for replacement rotors on ebay, i see models designated for MY90, MY91-92, then MY93-00. Is there really any difference between these model rotors? Can i just buy a rotor for any 1st gen ls?

no, either collapsed bushing or COMPLETELY imbalanced/damaged wheel and tire.

warped rotors won't cause vibration unless you are on the brake.

You may well have more than one problem. If you apply brakes and it shakes, it's rotors. that thumping noise as you are applying the brakes is probably your lower ball joint, I went through the same thing on my 98 LS.

How are your front tires? If they are worn down and or old they will give you a wobble at highway speeds, Especially wide tires.

Change your pads and rotors and have the front end checked out.

I'd definitely start by rebalancing all the tires. If there's shaking with no brake at 55 that's probably what that is.

Right now I have everything you have except the thump.

I cant balance for about a week cause my wheel lock key is damaged so I have to wait for the replacement to come.

I'm also about to buy all new rotors on ebay to take care of the braking.

Check for separated motor mounts..transmission mounts..they are weak. Check front radius bushings...also rear radius bushings and carrier bushings. Alot of time they look good until you remove them.

Also have tire shop check for bent wheels by watching for run-out while spinning on a balancer.
