Post Air Control Valve for 2LS?

Hi,

Is the Air Control Valve applicable for the 2LS? When I was order with the correct part number provided by a couple of members from other threads it just came up as for 1LS and 2.5LS. Any ideas? Thanks.

PD,

I'm all over the place. I think my mistake initially was changing the alternator before tackling the PS pump. It looks like the PS is leaking a little and dripping on the alternator...but not much though. I feel that my alternator is beginning to fail, because when the car is at idle the lights will flicker a little when I play with the power windows. That was the problem back then, but worse and I ended up changing the alternator. I was ignorant about the PS pump. Sorry for this long story. So pretty much when I'm turning extreme left (like during parking) I hear the normal (bad) squealing noise. I was asking about the valve because I would prefer to just change that as well along with the PS pump. So really I'm looking at another alternator, PS pump, and air control valve. Let me know if I'm going at this the correct way or order. BTW, someone will be performing job...not me. Thanks.

There is a idle air control valve located on the underside of the Powersteering pump. I think this is what you are referring to. The 2 common things that go wrong with this are this valve as well/or the high pressure power steering hoses leading to the pump go bad. Either one of them can leak and drip down into your alternator. The PUMP itself, while not fail safe, is not the normal cause of the leaking. If you are hearing the low speed whine, this means that you fluid level is really low and you need to top it off. Be warned that as long as you have the leak problem, you will frewuently have to top this off. The Alternator, by what you have described, seems to be going dead; just not dead yet. Do a search on the PS pump, leaking PS pump, etc, and you may find some alternatives. Some people cap off one of the lines going to the pump, thus eliminating the leak.

I had to replace my valve sometime last year, and I have a feeling I may be back under my car doing the high pressure line as well.

Alternator- Denso or OEM are fine
Idle Air Control Valve - DEALER PART ONLY,, close to $120,, which is why i suggested you search,, may be able to just cap off.
PS PUMP - unless it is gone bad(Ie. hard to steer like a car with no PS at all), would not change unless the pump you have is still the original. Change at your discretion, cant really hurt anything.

Post Air Control Valve and Hoses

T,

I just spoke to a lexus parts guy. He also mentioned that there are 2 small hoses that connects to the air control valve. They are cheap...one is $7 and the other $15. They are part #17340-50010 and 17342-50010. I know which one is the pressure hose, but I didn't know there are a couple of small hoses before the pressure hose. Let me know. Thanks.

Post ...alternator

T,

BTW, are all alternators the same? Can I just pick up a reman one? Since I just messed up my alternator (10k old) I don't know if I want to pay that much for another alternator. Thanks again.
