Default Headlight out on my '98 LS400, need help

hey yall, new to this club and format. thought I'd seek out help/assistance in the cyber world, and who better to reach out to then fellow Lexus lovers and owners! My current LS 400 is my second Lexus, I also had an SC 400 back in 2001. My right low-beam headlight went out and when I went to price it out at the local Lexus dealer and they quoted me at $377.00 just for the part, not counting install! So I'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction to save some money or find a good deal to fix my problem?! Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Please and thanks~

God Bless~G.G.

i take it you have HID, you need to find out if the bulb or the ballast went out.

New OEM philips 4300 HID bulbs are less then $90 shipped for a pair. They are easy to replace yourself. just make sure you replace them in pairs to aviod mismatching of firing tempreture (color and light output).

...Pure-drifter: Thank you for the response, much appreciated. Yes, I do have HID lights. I will try to find out what is actually out (ballast or bulb) thanks for the guidance....

...this is great information, you don't know how much I appreciate it. I will look into a pair of these and hopefully they work just fine. Funny how the dealer mentioned nothing of any other brand or option that would work, but then again it was a dealer! What does OEM stand for? Again, thank you.....your knowledge is very helpful and thanks for taking the time to reply to my post.~

OEM=Original Equipment Manufacturer, which means Philips is supposedly the company that made the bulbs in your car originally.

You could try swapping bulbs to make sure it's the bulb, before the ballast.

^. do this first. make sure it's the bulb. if it's the ballast, you may be stuck getting a factory lexus part because they're usually sized for the specific application. you can still do the work though. very easy job to replace a ballast.
of course if its' the bulb, even easier!
