Default oxygensensors.com tells me I need to remove seats to install sensors?

Hi all,

I need to change my O2 sensors, but I'm concerned that it might be a big job as the guy at oxygensensors.com tells me I may have to remove the seats and somehow go through the flooring. Sounds like bs to me but I've never done this job before. Any comments on this? How long did it take you? (I have a scizzor lift at least to get the thing a few feet up in the air).

Thanks

-Dean

ps its all 4 sensors and he was talking about the rears in this case.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to remove the seats, but don't quote me on that. Let me look in my service manual to see what they say.

Check your PM's as well.

Joe - thanks very much, looks ok. Do you know if the same method works for the 96?

Dean - let me know how it goes. I need to replace all 4 O2 sensors on my 95 LS400. Would like to know if you have any issues and where you will purchase the sensors. Thanks and good luck!

Red,

I got them at OxygenSensors.com

I ordered the denso's, but they were out of stock so they called me and offered the walkers, which I got. They told me they were the same part, just packaged differently. We'll see. I'm just about to start right now....

Ok here goes: Lifted the car onto a small lift - ramps will work but its a bit tight under there even with the lift.

I needed the O2 sensor socket tool, which I had to buy half way through. But for only $10, it was well worth it.

Here's me up on the lift:

This is the carpet coming up - I just cut the carpet around the gas pedal because its hidden for the most part and I just don't really care so much any more. I can't see how else you would do this unless you removed the pedal, which I was not going to do:

Driver's side carpet up. You can detach the connector and poke it through the hole (which is below the air duct, which comes out after one screw is removed.)

Here's the vent outlet. Its bits like this that always seem to slow me down and/or break, but it just pulls out with a quick yank with your fingers in the vent holes. You also have to remove the stainless steel step panel strip, but it just pops right out (lift it vertically upwards from the back first).

Old and new. (I know, even less useful than the other pics, but what the hell it gave me a chance to play with the nikon.)
