PK, that's kinda what I saw here in previous posts and searching. These trannies seem to go 300k miles. What do you think about dropping the pan and cleaning the filter at 90k miles?

i wouldnt do a full clean out at all. drain and fill should be fine. its because you dont want to remove the gunk that the tranny has built up for lubrication. some people have done the pressure clean or a full clean out which resulted to a fail tranny.
my 95 ls400 has 220k miles on it and all ive been doing is drain and fill. I still havent had my original tranny fail yet :knock on wood: and i drive pretty hard. gota let the v8 loose sometimes

I'll let PD explain what I pass over.
Since your tranny has had regular drain intervals, it is in all probability fine. Doing the partial drain of approximate 2 qts with new fluid is sufficient. Using this method, it is advised to drain each oil change or at most 15K. This works fine for the DIY as the cost is very economical. If you don't want the hassle, then having it flushed at your Toyota shop is fine. Dropping the pan and screen cleaning on a maintained tranny isn't necessary, a simple flush with Type IV fluid will do it.

I have always just done a drain and refill on all of my rigs with great success. It's your choice, but the drain and refill is the easiest and cheapest, plus it's what has been done on your car in the past.

Numbers looks about right. Remember, drain and refill only takes 2 quarts. the remaining almost 7 quarts are on the lines and majority on the TC.
You should forget about those numbers and service it just like on the Honda Accord video or Lexls DIY..... 10 drain and refill are worth 20quarts of ATF. You can do a complete flush in about 10-12quarts.

I personally haven't and I don't think its a good idea either.... ATF already has its own disinfectant chemical on it. Just do a drain and refill on every oil change or perform the DIY service flush.

Transmission Fluid turned brown in 1 minute
Ok, this is weird, I just took my 1996 LS400 to get the transmission fluid replaced, they did a drain and refill. They told me the old oil was really bad, almost black so they ran some new oil to get the old out better. The guy showed me the new dipstick and the oil was red, I drove it down the street to my house and checked the oil and its now "Brown", what gives???
