Default Finally got it moving - Thanks guys

Just wanted to say thanks to this website and LOC for helping me get my car moving. Recently I bought a 90' LS400 from a friend already wrecked. The car sat for 4-5 yrs and had several problems I found. After much reading I solved a few of them. Got the car running after buying a battery but the air suspension would not pump the car up so I could move it. After reading and scratching my head and chasing wires and solenoids and even manually pumping the suspension up with an air hose, I finally solved it by rebuilding the alternator. The alt. was shot from the previous owner running a large sound system. At the same time I removed the IAC and plugged the hole and the vac lines. I thought my Power steering pump was going bad but it turned out to just be low on fluid leaking only from the IAC and not much. Topped off all the fluids and cranked it up today and the car arose from the ground. I took it down the road and it rode pretty nice. Alot smoother ride than my 328 but not nearly as peppy. :-/ I love the car already though and have a lot of work ahead of me to get it where I want it. It has 20's but one wheel is bent from the wreck so they may come off, the radio doesnt work since they cut the amps out when they parked it, it needs both right side doors and some rockerpanel body work, needs the climate control screen. I plan on doing a full service tune up soon just so I know where I stand on everything. I also found out today I have the keyless remote(with a dead battery) and didnt even realize it, so thats a couple hundred I wont have to spend. I think thats all...thanks again guys.

All that fixed and only 4 posts?
I commend you on your use of the search button . Funny enough it really gives me a warm fuzzy feeling when prior knowledge(threads) is scavenged over and over again to help more than just the poster.
Good on yah ~!

Thanks, I try to be resourceful when I can.

Does anyone know what it costs to repair a 20" chrome wheel? I have seen some charging 160 and up. I didn't know if this was norm or not. Seems that even after its repaired, the re chroming is astronomical.

repair isnt that bad, but the real $$ comes from having to rechrome.

if you're worried about zippyness, take the hit on the damaged one and sell all 4 rims, then buy a set of light 16's. your car feels lifeless because it's lugging an extra 30lbs of unsprung weight in each corner.

thats why you buy my forged 3pc 18s :-D

you dont have to go with 16s for lighter weight, 17, 18, and even 19in wheels that are forged and 1-3 pc are SIGNIFICANTLY lighter than their cast brethren.

Yeah I took that into account and this is what I would like to do but Im having a hard time finding any 16 or 17s in my area. The 20's look good but I just dont need them. Plus the back left is riding a tad low and in a hard turn, rubs the tire. I think 17s or 16s would cure this.
