Sounds like a stall, of course
First thing I'd be looking into here is your fuel delivery. I'd check, or simply replace the fuel filter. Check the fuel pump relay, check the fuel pump activity itself.. and so on.
Might be clogged fuel filter or fuel pump going bad, in which case its about a $200 fix.
Check that area out and see if anything pops up.
Any engine codes?

Is this on a 1992 as written in your profile? Check and ensure that your IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) is functioning properly. If this valve is clogged or does not open when it should, it can cause the symptoms you are describing. It's on the front of the motor and is easy to test.
If this is on a 1996, as I saw you mention in another post, I am almost certain I know what your problem is. There is a TSB for a "Driveability Improvement." Some owners of 1995 and 1996 MY LS400's have noted that with their existing ECM, the car behaves as you describe due to the ECM not pulsing the IACV motor to open. With a revised ECM, the problem disappears. I don't have a copy of the TSB for 1996 MY LS400's, so I can't tell you the specific model numbers of the engine computer. Stick your head under your glovebox near the door and look up. You should be able to see your ECM model number. Report back with that number, and we can determine if the fix is applicable.
Edit: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...=stall+highway has information on the model number change, but that information may be dated.

Sonyman is right. If this is a 95 or early 96, this is likely your problem (95%). If you have the 'off throttle shock' as Lexus describes, then it is 100% certain your problem.
Good luck - post back with your experience.
