Question Anyone have experience with D2 coilovers?

So I am planning on getting a set of D2 coilovers instead of the Megans. I did some research and they seem as good if not better then the Megans. But I would like to hear from anyone who actually has them on their LS or knows anyone with first hand experience with them. Thanks.

if i remember right, D2 is made by k sport or something like that. i may be wrong.

i haven't looked into the D2's much, but what are the differences between them and megans?

What the guys at D2 told me on the phone was that the D2s' are teflon coated and don't rust. The megans don't have this coating therefor are prown to rusting and getting stuck. But I know people have had the megans and have had good luck with them. So i'm just gonna get the D2s' to be different I guess. And I kinda like the purple color too.

that didn't sway me at all.

you can teflon coat/paint megans, too.

what about performance difference?

i don't like the fact that D2 is connected to k sport.

D2 is actually a very reputable brand. Once worked for the only eastern distributer on the East Coast (at the time), have had them on my 2 past cars. Exceptional quality, gets a bad rap because of being made in Taiwan. Check out the D2 race team, you'll see why you should check out the D2's. Hope this helped.

got al ink to the d2's? i didn't know they were available for a ucf10.
the megans are anodized, so they really shouldn't rust, as well as being aluminum which makes that impossible anyway. i just coated them with some clear spray lube to keep dirt from getting in the threads when i installed them.

i heard that with d2 and ksport that they only send you replacement parts when they break. they have you rebuild the coils along with the struts instead of replacing them.

Not sure with D2, but with K-sport ,not only is this a very true statement, but they will also make you wait up to 4 weeks to get the replacement parts. My boy Smitty, who has an ES on K-sports, had this problem with them and they whole heartedly jerked him around. I, personally, would stay away from them. Don't know too much about D2 but am leary b/c of their association with K-sport.

I've never had a set of D2's on a lexus, however do have it on another car here at home. I personally would not buy the D2's because in my experience, they are bouncy, a little too stiff, the adjustment ***** are crappy, IIRC there are no clicks for **** adjustments. overall not a great coilover. Most of these cheap coilover companys use the same shocks and stuff so the valving is not for those specific cars

The megans however, i don't know too much about them. I've ridden in a car with megans and it was set up bad iirc (preload on one side, previous guy didnt know how to adjust or anything) well it was bouncy and stuff but not as bad as the D2's. Another thing, I would rather go with megans because they have an office here in California so rebuilding shouldnt be too hard.

Unfortunately there are not too many coilovers offered for the LS400 here in the states that are cheaper.

I'm probably gonna go with Megans because I might be able to get a deal. The Megans have a full threaded body so going low would not be a problem, having full shock travel. If the tein cs's had a full threaded body, i would go with those. Jic's have a nice set of coilovers, but a little tough to get without the $$$.

anyways I hope this helps.

Ksport = garbage on my GS.

I've had D2's on over 10 of my cars now. I love them, excellent quality for the money.
