Default new guy.. need some help

hi guys. glad i found this site. been looking for a forum for a bit and only found planet lexus.com and that place is a ghost town.

i own a 93 ls400 that i picked up about 2 months ago. it has a couple issues that i hope you guys can help me with.

the check engine light is on- i found a writeup on how to pull codes and it said "lean condition detected". i know what lean is but what censor should i be replacing?

also the traction control doesnt work and the light is always on. the button will not shut it off. i tried jumping the appropriate pins to pull the trac code and no codes come up. any ideas on that?

finally i would like to say that im very satisfied with the car. my background is rotaries and rx7s. i still own two but i decided i needed a car that would guarantee my trip to work. i still love them and still play with and modify them but this is a very relaxing car.

so far it has an injen cai and some aftermarket exhaust. they were both on the car when i got it. sounds nice and has decent power for its weight.

edit** oh yeah.. it was fast enough to keep up with my buddies sc400 till 80mph

There's nothing wrong with your traction control, whenever the check engine light is on, traction control system will shut down and you will get the TRAC light. Lean condition could be caused by your MAF, ECU or O2 sensors, but also it is possible that its being caused by an air leak past MAF, coolant temperature sensor, bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, or clogged up injectors.

Now, Lexus are usually very reliable when it comes to fuel injection system, but early ECU's and MAF's were kind of shaky. However, since you have an aftermarket intake, the first thing I would do is check it for air leaks, and second I would make sure the MAF is installed and installed properly. In fact, these early models are so sensitive to any intake modifications, that I would remove the aftermarket intake all together, and install the stock intake. They are all the same 90-94, so you should be able to pick one up at the junk yard very cheap.
