Unhappy Gen1 Strut Tower Brace Info

Ok, so since I'm redoing my entire suspension, I decided to get a front strut tower brace as well. Did some search in the forum and found that Otto will fit just fine without much mod. So called up LM.com and got the bad news...its discontinued!!! So my other choice is to get a Supra brace and bend it to make it fit.

So are those two the only choices for Gen1 LS?

The Otto bar doesn't really do much.. if you want the biggest impact for a small price, get the Daizen sway bar bushings. If you also can do the Daizen control arm bushings, you will be very happy.. they tighten the car up considerably. The otto strut bar was only useful to me because it tightened up my steering feel a bit..

I ordered the Daizen bushings. didn't get the entire front end due to the cost of labor!!

speaking of steering feel...that's exactly what I want to do. I feel my LS has very soft steering even after 60 when the PS ECU dails it down.

lower the car and get some 18s or 19s, it tightens up the steering nicely

You also might be able to fit a supra strut tower bar by using some washers.

With my Otto strut bar, I still had to use washers to get some clearance over the engine..

I got an Otto strut bar from LM on my old 91 LS. Tightened up the steering a lot and fit perfectly. I didn't need washers or anything...that sucks it's discontinued.... I wish they made one for a 97!

Hi,

Where did you get the Daizen bushings? I was looking for them last year and had no luck at all. All the supposed vendors said the company just totally disappeared. Thanks.

So I noticed on Ebay they have a the 93-97 strut bars available, but there is a Turbo and non Turbo version. which one should I get. Also the prices were super cheap. Do you know if it is worth it at all?

sounds like they may be garbage.

if your bar doesnt fit (1st gen LS400) it's not a supra TURBO bar, the turbo bars are bent. the nonturbo bars arent.

2LS can use supra TT bars as well, but need to either bend them some more or use spacers/washers.
