Default Strut Bar Problem

I just changed the strut bar bushings on my 2000 LS400 non air sus. Now the ride is really stiff and makes noise on every little bump now. Did I f*** up? I got the bushings from Carson BTW.

Dont think you messed it up,,, just think that you may not have lubed it properly. May have to uninstall and redo.

did you install poly bushinings or the OEM lexus rubber pieces?

did you PROPERLY torque down the rest of the susp, ie not over-tightened....

IF you bought the ones they sell under their CarsonTuned brand, you bought polyurethane bushings.

good news is that their squeaking because they just need to be lubed up properly (poly bushings need this)

bad news is that they are going to be stiffer than stock, but shouldnt be in any way as bad as you're talking about.

torque spec for the strut bar to the LCA (2 small bolts) is 121 ft*lbs
spec for strut bar (caster nut/bushing end) is 134 ft*lbs.

If its tight, its tight guys.
especially on suspension, with it being tighter, it MIGHT just groan at you, which it will also do if its not lubed as they say...

tq rates are overrated
....you're going to cause an accident.

are you serious? the number one reason i see people having catastrophic suspension failure (aside obviously from worn parts) is incorrectly torqued bolt that hold on MAJOR suspension components. ALL manufacturers give torque specs for pretty much all major components.

but this is more prevalent on older cars, with simpler susp. setups that require a LOT more torque to be held on properly (ie-my DD camry requires 180+ft*lbs on a couple places)

oh, and what about brakes last thing i want is a caliper coming loose or someone OVER tightening my wheels and warping the rotors.

tight is NOT tight.
