Default Headlight Question

I have a 99 with HID headlights and my drivers side bulb went out tonight. I haven't had a chance to look at it and wanted to ask how hard they are to change without messing up the auto level? Should I just take it to Lexus? Does anyone know of a good source to get bulbs? I am taking the DR2 35 watt bulb is the HID bulb. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/Bulbs.html is a good place for bulbs (OEM or aftermarket, they offer the OEM bulbs in D2R as long as u call/contact them)

Thanks for the replies everyone. I actually got into my car this morning and oddly enough they were both working. Really strange. Has anyone ever had this happen to them before?

just see if it starts happening constantly
if it does, then swap the bulbs side to side, if it still happens on the same side then its the ballast, if it switches, its that bulb.

I had the same problem, and its usually the bulbs start acting up of old age. Sometimes only one side would turn on, and I would have to turn off, and turn them back on. Replacing the bulbs with Phillips D2R will most likely fix the problem.

I STRONGLY recommend you replace them as a pair, if you want them to match in color, and output. Also, type of bulbs doesn't effect the auto leveling, as the entire housing moves up and down, so you shouldn't have any problems if you use a standard philips D2R bulb.

GLS4 recommends Phillips. Any thoughts on brands? eBay has lots of cheaper ones.

Is the stock color 4300K? It appears you get more light (lumens) with that color.

phillips/osram is OEM issue at 4100/4300k.

just buy them OEM from the sites ive posted, the aftermarket ones arent much cheaper at all and the quality is sometimes dodgy.
