Default Brought home new baby tonite

After years of thinking, months of planning and weeks of shopping I've finally got an LS in my garage. A gold '98 w/ 122k that has been babied all its life. Looks, smells and drives like 22k. Needs hood struts (don't they all), and dealer inspection recommended changing trans and diff. fluids, but thats it. Previous owner was a waxaholic and it really shows. Looked at several nice cars, but this one really needed nothing. Thanks to everyone here who provided advice, either responding to my posts, or whose posts I came across in my lurking and research; what I've learned here really enabled me to get what for me is the right car.

Congrats, now get to taking those pics.

How much did you pay for it (if it's not a secret)?

Sorry to be OT but is that a common problem with the newer ls's? (hood struts)

I have a 93 still with its original struts and I was curious.

anyway congrats on your purchase, it should serve you well for years and years and years to come!

Enjoy,, my hood struts are bad too. But who cares, I never open the hood anyway lol. Well I do, but if this was a Benz, I would fix the struts immediatly. I would spend the night at the foot steps of the part department untill they opened so that no other MB driver would beat me to it.

yea, the hood struts tend to go bad more based on age than anything else.

I'll take some pix this weekend if its not raining. I have not even seen the car in the daylight since bringing it home; its sitting in the garage next to its (much) older brother (1959 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special), waiting for me to do the DMV thing, hopefully tomorrow. Meanwhile I've been enjoying the owners manual. I thought I was up on most of the features, but there are constant surprises (I didn't know the '98s had power headrests).

As for hood struts, it seems like all the cars I looked at either needed them, or had just had them replaced.

Welcome to CL - your gold LS sounds nice. They are fantastic cars and you'll love driving it. Pictures will be nice inside and out. I have a 95 and the hood struts went out long ago. It is funny that I have spent thousands modifying the car and never fixed the inexpensive struts
