Default Transmission life???

Does anyone know how many miles you should expect from the 98-on LS400's transmissions, assuming you change the fluid?? I see that the engine is pretty bomb proof, Transmission as well? Can you rebuild an LS transmission?

Anywhere from 300k-500k+ provided it has been maintained. I disagree with PureDrifter saying "forever" because there are items, such as the internal clutches, that will wear down no matter what. However, the transmission will outlast the ownership in most cases, which very well may seem like forever.

Default Okay, who builds these things that last forever? GOD ???

Seriously, I get the impression that with normal maintainance, this car will last just about forever!!! Unbelieveable !!!! Just wish it did not make me look older than I am. But I do have a blonde hottie for a service advisor

you haven't been bamboozled I have friends who turned in thier 91-93 lexus with 568,000 miles on both the trans and motors. Change the fluid in the transmission every 25,000 miles and change the engine oil every 5,000 miles and change the rear end oil about 30,000 along with the power steering fluid. and you should get a great many years from your lexus. Don't forget to also change the radiator fluid every 2 years happy motoring.
