Trouble with reverse
I have a 1990 LS400 with 85,000 miles. It runs great. After a recent oil change, I have trouble (twice) going reverse, it acts like it is stuck on Neutral. Reverse engages fine, if I shift to drive going forward then to reverse again. Any help will be most appreciated.

this happened to me a couple of weeks ago.... i left the lights on overnight by accident which flattened the battery by the next morning, when i called road service to jumpstart my celsior all was fine, i left it running for a few minutes to warm it up, put it in reverse....nothing.
after turning the ignition off, i let it sit for 10 mins before starting it again and reverse was there.....hasnt happened since though

Thanks for the reply! I got this info. off this board.
<This is a very common problem on the early LS and is almost always caused by a broken wire (white with black stripe, I think) in the left hinge of the trunk. To fix, pop off the cover on the hinge covering the wire, unravel the electrical tape, find the broken/cracked wire, cut it at the break, splice in a bit of wire (1-2 inches) -- solder it or use wire connectors.>
I called in to the mechanic, and he found it to be correct. He charged me $95 to fix it. Ouch!
