This light starting coming on and going off.Now it is on almost constantly.Advanced Auto parts said my alternator/diode is going out.Has anyone ever had this problem on their 2nd gen?Was it really the alternator or was it a short somewhere?The battery hasn't drained yet as the light just starting showing constantly.Can I get this diode behind the alternator without changing the whole alternator?

Your alternator is bad.

Agreed - alternator is faulty - not bad for a 1995 though.

get a rebuilt alternator.

and check for power steering leaks.

Avoid the dealer and get it fixed sooner then later. I went through this a couple weeks back on my way back home. The car didn't make it in a span of 15 minutes when the light first came on...it was towed to Lexus to a tune of almost $800.
