Buying a new (old) Lexus
First off I'd like to say thank-you and I will be glad to be back as an owner of another Lexus. I wandered away for a bit but now I'm coming back. Thats where I hope to get a little insight.
My Options are: 99 GS 300 with 187k and starter, brakes, alighnment,
timing belt done.
or
95 LS 400 with 102k and brakes, timing belt done
I use to own a 94 GS 300 and foolishly bought a Mercedes E420 and have regreted it ever since. I can get my hands on these for around 7500.
I hope sum1 can help and thanks again

And yes, go w/ the LS over the GS.

I the other thing is I just found out that the LS 400 he doesnt have timing belt documetation I have to take his word. Also the car is in Orlando and I will have to fly down and drive back...to OHIO
All while the GS has all documentation.... it just has 187k. Oh its in Indiana...only 4 hrs.
About the Mercedes E 420...the 8 cylinder was very strong but it stayed in the shop a lot. Besides the fact that there service was *******y.

Welcome back bro. I hear you on the Mercedes as I have friends with them and they too spend far too much time in the shop. Oddly, with repairs for the same things over and over. I would still opt for the LS versus the GS even if you had to change the timing belt. They are two totally different cars. My Father-in-Law has a GS 400. It is much newer than mine but I would never trade his for mine. The LS, even if you have no plans on modifying it, is such a comfortable road car versus the GS. I understand though Orlando is far away but wow what a road trip! I drove mine from Houston roundtrip to Destin, Florida again in July and it was fantastic.
