Electric Engine Control Mudule--ECU Bad????
Help!
Lexi is in the car hospital.
Mechanic said it is the "electric engine control module"--or ECU
Part #89661-50151
He said this part is very hard to get and $$$ because it rarely goes out.
(just my luck)
Does anybody have any experience with this happening/or advice about where to get it cheaper. He said local Lexus dealer price was around $900, or we can have ours rebuilt a lot cheaper, but will take weeks. Crud.
The car has been running fine, until Tuesday on may way to work.
It started surging upon accelerating to merge on hiway. Couldn't gain hiway speed. Then it quit surging and ran fine. Happened intermittently on the way back home.
Thanks a Bunch--!!!!!

If your mechanic is correct, then it's a simple, cheap fix. Because they rarely fail, any salvage yard that has an LS400 of the same vintage as yours should also have the ECM in stock. Check www.car-part.com to see if anyone local to you has the correct computer. You shouldn't pay more than $100-$150 for it either. Don't even bother rebuilding yours when a salvage unit will work just fine.

I Been Looking On Ebay Lately And They Starting To Part Out A Lot Of LS400. I Had Mine Replace Too Because Of The Defect And I Paid The 900 Bucks. My Car Would Stutter And Shut Off On Long Road Trips After Brake. Now Since I Replaced It My Car Runs Like A Champ LoL.
