I have a 92 LS, when you step on the brake pedal, the dash lights go out and the reverse light comes on. The cars seems to go into second gear if you are just starting out and have your foot on the brake or seems to be "free wheeling" if you are traveling and put your foot on the brake. The light warning indicator is on all the time though no lights are out. Any help would be appreciated as my small town mechanic can only scratch his head and offer me a cup of coffee.

This sounds like a very common problem which occurs in the early to mid-90's LS models. The problem involves one or more broken wires in a wiring harness which is attached to the driver side trunk hinge. Most commonly, one of the broken wires is a white wire with a black stripe. This is a ground wire, and when it is broken, numerous electrical problems involving different parts of the car can happen.
